Accounting and Financial Reporting for Fintech Platforms
Turn platform activity into accounting records and reporting that management can explain. Accelio scopes the work around your products, revenue arrangements, entities and financial sources, with clear responsibilities for the decisions behind the numbers.

When product complexity becomes a finance problem
Operational events do not translate cleanly into accounting
A platform export may describe customer activity without explaining the corresponding revenue, receivable or liability. Mapping events to contracts and ledger entries helps finance understand what each record represents and which questions need a decision.
Revenue arrangements change as products develop
New fees, partner arrangements or subscription terms can outgrow the original accounting approach. A documented change review identifies affected sources, reporting periods and accounting questions before inconsistent treatment spreads through the records.
Reporting depends on several teams
Product, operations, finance and external partners may each hold part of the evidence. Named owners for data, explanations and approvals make the handoffs explicit, helping the accounting cycle proceed without repeatedly rediscovering responsibilities.
Several entities need a consistent reporting basis
Separate legal entities may use different records, classifications or reporting calendars. Entity-level schedules and documented intercompany questions help establish the information needed for agreed group reporting, without treating separate entities as one ledger.
Accounting support grounded in your operating model
Accelio’s specialists have extensive experience with crypto and fintech. For your engagement, the relevant starting point is the platform’s actual activities and accounting requirements, rather than an assumed technology or regulatory category.
Ordinary operations close monthly, with an accountant preparing the work and a senior accountant reviewing it. Where crypto accounting is included, crypto transactions are reconciled quarterly or on a schedule agreed with the client. Responsibilities can be arranged alongside your internal finance team. Management retains the decisions and approvals assigned to it; the engagement identifies the work Accelio will prepare and review.
From platform events to financial reporting
01 — Describe the business model
Identify products, contractual relationships, revenue sources, entities and reporting audiences. Distinguish what the platform records operationally from the financial information required by management and the applicable reporting framework.
02 — Assign sources and owners
Identify relevant platform exports, contracts, invoices, ledgers and bank or PSP records. Name the people responsible for providing data, explaining operational events and approving material accounting decisions.
03 — Map and reconcile the records
Connect relevant operational activity to accounting entries and supporting balances. Compare applicable financial sources, document differences and identify missing evidence. Payment or digital-asset workflows are included only when they are part of the business and agreed scope.
04 — Record decisions and changes
Track questions arising from new products, amended contracts, partner settlements or entity changes. Document the analysis and required client decisions so the reporting basis remains explainable when the operating model evolves.
05 — Prepare the reporting package
Prepare agreed schedules and reports from the accounting record, highlighting unresolved matters. Review the work before handover and distinguish established figures from items still dependent on evidence or approval.
Outputs for the recurring cycle and for change
Recurring accounting and reporting
The monthly scope can include source-to-ledger schedules, balance reconciliations, revenue and receivable support, intercompany schedules and a maintained exception register. Management, cash-flow or board reports can be prepared with agreed definitions, periods and supporting schedules.
For group reporting, entity-level information, mapping schedules and intercompany differences may form part of the package. The reporting framework and consolidation requirements need an explicit scope; a multi-entity structure does not imply automatic consolidation.
One-off remediation and transition
Incomplete history, unsupported opening balances or a change of provider may require a separate project. Potential outputs include a source inventory, data-quality findings, reconciliations, proposed corrective entries and a documented handover of open matters.
A new product or revenue arrangement may also need separately scoped accounting-policy analysis. The work depends on available evidence and authorised decisions; it does not guarantee that missing history can be reconstructed.

Where the operating model requires them, Payment and PSP Accounting or Crypto Accounting can address the corresponding activity. Swiss Statutory Accounting, VAT and Payroll is relevant to agreed work for Swiss entities.
Accounting records can support exchanges with appointed auditors and advisers. This accounting scope excludes licensing, AML services, independent audit and regulatory approval. A fintech label does not establish a regulatory status.

Questions about fintech accounting
Does every fintech platform need payment or crypto accounting?
No. The service follows the actual activity. A software platform, payment business and digital-asset business may need different sources, controls and accounting work.
Can you work alongside our internal finance team?
Yes. The engagement can divide preparation, review, information provision and approvals between Accelio and your team. Those responsibilities are agreed explicitly.
What happens when we launch a new product?
Identify the new contractual terms, operational records and financial flows. We agree whether the change fits recurring work or needs additional analysis before adopting a reporting treatment.
Can reporting use our existing systems?
We assess the records and exports available from them. System access, formats and any integration requirements must be confirmed; the service does not assume automated connectivity or real-time reporting.
What does the initial consultation cover?
The first consultation is free and covers general questions. Detailed document review and audit work are not included. Meeting arrangements are confirmed separately; submitting the form does not reserve a time.
